Katherine Black

Trainer and instructor Katherine Black has been riding and working with horses for over 20 years, having trained in a wide variety of disciplines and challenging horses. 

Katherine was raised on horses in the South Bay Area. She showed, rode and learned basic training in her youth. She started training her own and others when she was 14 years old. 

Katherine’s training is infused with many disciplines and experiences, including training Mustangs, Reining horses, Working Cow horses, Equitation horses, Hunter/Jumper, Cross Country and Trail. Each of these experiences are melded to inspire each horse and rider to enjoy their ride as much as possible. 

Most recent endeavors include becoming certified as an Equine Specialist in 2022 to work under the  EAGALA model. Katherine hopes to additionally offer her own Eagala program to provide Equine Assisted Psychotherapy to the local community. 

Katherine moved to the Santa Cruz Area to pursue higher education in Psychology. She is proud to have been serving the local and surrounding communities of the Santa Cruz Mountains with lessons and training since 2018.
